To the powers that be,
While I fully appreciate the fact that all show promoters are trying to generate as much revenue as possible, I believe that our sport is being “shot-in-the-foot” by providing far too many divisions at each of these venues. The whole process has become quite unappealing with lengthy pre-judging and ‘after midnight’ completion of shows. i find this to be a disservice to atheletes and spectators alike. I further believe that the ever-growing addition of ‘new’ divisions is a perilous attempt to try to ‘mass market’ the industry. What’s next, a wet t-shirt division? Then a ‘no-heels’ wet t-shirt division without clenched fist posing ?
I am certain that there are many whom share my sentiment as well as those who differ. However, we need to draw the line somewhere. In our zealous pursuit of monetary excess and mass market appeal, we have and continue to alienate our base. Again, while the number$ may be grand in the short run,No legitimate sport will (or should)survive by this model.
